A Day Like Any Other

Our Safe State of Maine

Today I woke up to my daughter knocking on the bedroom door.

Before sunrise, your child wakes you to tell you school is closed because a mass shooting occurred in a nearby town.

Another man with a gun.

Another fight no one wants to lose and no one knows how to win.

Another man with a gun.

The space we make for safety’s sake, stolen, senseless, take the bait.

My bitter bruised appendages have bore the weight of ages and ages.

Why waste another moment in the petty violence of petty men?

Get over yourselves, the mindset divided for short term gain.

Question what would you decide today for the benefit of your child seven generations away?
